Ever wanted to showcase your photos in a captivating slideshow but thought that Adobe Lightroom lacks this function? Think again! While the Desktop App doesn’t include a built-in slideshow feature, Lightroom’s cloud platform offers a surprisingly simple solution.
This video tutorial will show you how to create professional-looking slideshows using any type of Adobe Lightroom. Adobe Lightroom Classic users can make use of this cloud-based technique in addition to Classic’s integrated Slideshow Module.
Slideshow Preparation
Preparing a slideshow begins with some quick work inside of the Adobe Lightroom Desktop App on your computer.
- Create an Album: To get started, create a new Album for images that you want to display.
- Add The Relevant Photos: There are two ways to add photos into this album. You can add images in either using drag and drop or with a right click.
- Arrange Your Photos (Optional): You can arrange your images chronologically, by star rating, or into a custom order by dragging and dropping thumbnails around within this album.
- Sync with Cloud: Ensure Lightroom has finished syncing the images in this album with your Adobe Creative Cloud account.
Viewing the Slideshow on the Web
Once you have completed these steps then it is time to present your slideshow. Here’s the secret; you will not find a “play slideshow” button within the Adobe Lightroom Desktop App on your computer. Don’t panic!
To get your slideshow rolling, follow these steps:
- Launch Any Web Browser: Launch your preferred web browser (e.g., Google Chrome).
- Go to Lightroom.Adobe.Com: Navigate to lightroom.adobe.com to access Lightroom’s cloud capabilities.
- Log In (if needed): Sign in using your Adobe credentials.
- Find Your Album: All of your albums should be displayed in a list on the lower left side of your screen.
- Start the Slideshow: Click the three dots (…) on the top right corner and choose “Start Slideshow” from the pop up out menu.
Slideshow Controls
Once you have entered Slideshow Mode at lightroom.adobe.com, a gray box will appear at the bottom of the screen. With these tools you can:
- Play or Pause The Show. You can let the computer advance from image to image for you or you can use the arrow keys to manually advance from image to image.
- Toggle fullscreen mode.
- Adjust the speed of slide transitions.
- Turn on or off loop playback.
Bonus Tip: Slideshow Mode on The Lightroom Mobile App
The Lightroom Mobile App also includes an integrated Slideshow mode. You can create and play slideshows within the Lightroom for iOS or Android App on your phone or tablet.
Lightroom Mobile also includes a couple of features that the web platform lacks including the ability to store screen-sized copies of each image on your mobile device for smoother offline viewing.
The hidden slideshow features at lightroom.adobe.com, and within the Mobile App, are a great way to showcase your best images. With just a few clicks, you can create and share beautiful slideshows in no time!
