How To Build A Develop Preset In Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic

Divider LineLearn how to build a Develop Preset in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic that will add a nice vignette around the corners of your photograph. A Develop Preset is a list of saved image enhancement settings, in this case using the Radial Gradient Tool, that we can instantly apply to any photo with the tap of a button!

I am sure that some of you are wondering why I would bother building this kind of Develop Preset since Lightroom Classic already includes vignetting controls inside of its Effects Panel. The reason why I prefer to add my vignettes using this kind of Preset comes down to flexibility and control.

There is no way to move the vignettes the Effects Panel all around your image. Unfortunately, the vignette that the Effects Panel creates always radiates out from the middle. This kind of vignette is of limited value when the subject of your photograph is positioned far away from the center of your frame.

If you use the kind of Develop Preset that I demonstrate in this video instead then you can position your radial gradient vignette wherever you want. In addition, you can also fine-tune the strength of the vignette that this Develop Preset creates using the new Preset Amount feature and your vignette can also soften the details around the edges of your image.

Develop Presets are one of the best ways to automate repetitive image enhancement tasks inside of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic. Learning how to save a Develop Preset that does something elegant for you can be a huge time saver if you use this preset again on hundreds of other images.
