This video tutorial is all about the Red Eye Correction Tool in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Of course, the best way to solve this common photographic problem is to avoid it altogether. Red eye is easily avoided with SLR type camera equipment and off-camera flash. It’s a problem that the professionals photographers in my audience might scoff at but all of us will eventually encounter this problem when shooting in low-light conditions with our cellphones and tiny point and shoot cameras.
Trust me. If you shoot enough low-light portraits with your cellphone then sooner or later you too will have images that need red eye repair. The good news here is that red eye removal is an easy task in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Basically, you just aim and click Photoshop Lightroom’s red eye correction tool and then adjust a few sliders to control the color of the repaired pupils.
But there is more to this tutorial though then just red eye removal. One of the secrets to working efficiently with Photoshop Lightroom’s red eye correction tool, and with some of the other tools which I will cover in our next series of tutorials, is learning how to Zoom In and Zoom Out using Lightroom’s keyboard shortcuts. The real lesson today is on how to zoom in without having to change tools in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom’s Develop Module.
I hope that the red eye correction tool is one that you will rarely use but the keyboard zooming in and out skills that I cover in this tutorial are something that you will really need to master get your money’s worth out of this amazing program.
